Mr. Wyndham John “Yank” Walker, age 83, a resident of Kingston, Tennessee passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023, at his home. He was born December 21, 1939, in Ecorse, Michigan. “Yank” was a member of the Luminary United Methodist Church in Ten Mile, Tennessee and was very active in the ministries and activities there. “Yank” was a retired millwright with the U.S. Department of Energy and was a U.S. Army Veteran serving with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was an avid supporter of local youth athletics; including coaching Little League for many years; serving as Score Keeper for the Midway Greenwaves for over 30 years; and following and supporting his grandsons and the Kingston Yellow Jackets. He was very active in the Midway Community and was an avid Outdoorsman and Fisherman, including organizing and participating in fishing clubs. Most of all he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who always followed and supported any endeavors his family was involved with, especially the interest and endeavors of his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald & Sidonia “Donia” Walker; his wife and love of his life for over 50 years, Ruth Ann Walker; and brothers and sister, William “Bill” Walker, Pauline Walters, and Ralph Walker.

 

Survivors include:

 

Sons & Daughter-in-law:         Bryan & Kim Walker of Harriman, TN

Todd Walker of Kingston, TN

 

Grandsons:                             Bailey Walker, Riley Walker, and Colby Walker, all of Harriman, TN

 

Sister & Brother-in-law:           Ethel & Don Decker of Woodhaven, MI

 

And several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

 

 

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Luminary United Methodist Church; 3401 River Road; Ten Mile, Tennessee 37880. Full military honors will follow at 5:00 p.m. at the church by the Roane County Military Honor Guard and the Tennessee Army National Guard. Funeral services will then follow from the Luminary United Methodist Church with Pastor Wayne Hedrick officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Luminary United Methodist Church. Evans Mortuary of Rockwood, Tennessee is serving the family of Mr. Wyndham John “Yank” Walker.
