Mr. Bill Hamby, age 78 of Rockwood, passed away on Thursday, April 16th, 2026. He was born on September 17th, 1947. Bill was a proud US Army Veteran where he served his country faithfully and worked as a mechanic. He later spent his years working for Sprint as a telephone engineer before retiring. He was a loving husband, grandfather, brother and friend. His grandchildren were his world and loved to spend time with them. When he was able, he enjoyed hunting, riding his four wheeler, and anything he could do to be outdoors. He is preceded in death by his parents: Clarence & Agnes Hamby. He is survived by:

Wife of 55 years: Nannette Hamby
Daughter: Donna Trentham (Randall)
Grandsons: Shane Trentham & Kyle Trentham
Siblings: Bobby Hamby (Sharon), Gayle Lewis (David), Donnie Hamby (Mary), Connie Buchannon, and Gary Hamby (Karla)
along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 pm ET at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood. Funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm with Bro. Jake Fisher officiating. Graveside and interment service will follow in the Millstone Mountain Cemetery with full military honors presented by the US Army Honor Guard and Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. Bill Hamby
