Ruth Avis Bowman Thomas

Ruth Avis Thomas, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Rockwood, TN on Saturday, July 19, 2025. She was born on July 13, 1934 in Norfolk, VA. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Stacy Guy Thomas and her parents Margret and Dwight Bowman.

 She is survived by her two sons, Mike and Ray Knight, her grandchildren Travis Knight (Tamary), Sam Bussey (Christian), Matthew Knight (Elizabeth), and Lynette Knight (Josh), many great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Ruth Ann Reilly.

Ruth had many cats and loved them all dearly. She was an avid quilter and spent most of her time creating special pieces for her loved ones. She truly loved all of her family and held tight to her roots. Her sharp wit and caring nature will be greatly missed.

Cremation arrangements have been made. Interment of cremains will take place on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 10:00 am at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in the John Sevier area. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Ms. Ruth Avis Thomas.
