Mr. Paul Edward McDaniel, age 77 of Sweetwater, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 16th, 2026, at the Roane Medical Center in Harriman. He was born on February 27th, 1949, in Harriman. He was a US Air Force Veteran, where he proudly served and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. After he served his country, he worked for many years in the textile industry locally. He worked for Kaisor Roth and many of the other factories before moving to Sweetwater in the late 1980s.
He was a dedicated church member at Oakland Baptist Church in Sweetwater where he proudly served the Lord in various roles within the church. He also enjoyed woodworking, and traveled with his wife in their younger years while they were able.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Arthur Franklin McDaniel & Minnie Bell McDaniel; wife: Betty McDaniel; sons: Larry Detrick & Phillip Detrick; grandson: Jason Detrick; brothers: John, Carl, and Jim McDaniel; sisters: Virginia Ruth Detrick, Betty Hurst, and Bobbie Smith. He is survived by:
Daughter: Patricia Wilcox (Keith)
Grandchildren: Jessica Godsey (Frank), Jay Hawn, Cameron Robbins, Phillip Detrick Jr, Brandi Lanham
Great Grandchildren: Abran Godsey (Lindsay), Hollis Godsey, Thomas Detrick, and Destiny Detrick, along with several others
Great Great Granddaughter: Iris Grace
Sister: Della Barnes
Special additional granddaughter: Amy May
and a host of others extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 20th, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 pm ET at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood. Funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm ET with Bro. Jim Swabe officiating. Graveside and interment service will follow in the Poplar Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Kingston, TN, at approximately 5:45 pm ET with military honors presented by the US Air Force and the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. Paul Edward McDaniel.
