Nellie M. Russell

Mrs. Nellie M. Russell, age 94, a longtime resident of Rockwood, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the home of her daughter in Rocky Face, Georgia surrounded by her family. She was born October 30, 1930, in Roane County, Tennessee. She was a longtime very active member of the First Baptist Church in Rockwood. She cherished her wonderful group of friends with whom she walked at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center and her wonderful group of friends at Muscle Movers at First Christian Church. She retired from Kayser Roth in Rockwood where she worked in the office for many years. She was also very proud that prior to her work there, she was a retied Switchboard Operator with the Bell Telephone Company when they started automating their systems. She was an accomplished bowler with her husband, sister, and brother-in-law, and was quite competitive, winning many trophies over the years. She was an avid Jigsaw puzzle worker, a passion that she passed along to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, creating many wonderful though sometimes competitive family memories. Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her parents, Odie & Celia Miles; husband, James E. Russell; son, Eddie Russell; brother, Glenn Miles; and several members of the Miles and Russell families.

Survivors include:

Daughter: Kim Murphy & her fiancé, Wesley Kennedy of Rocky Face, GA

Grandchildren: Jason Todd Morgan (Emily) of Asheville, NC

Sarah Clements (Josh) of Tillamook, OR

Great Grandchildren: Ben Morgan, Jamie Tidwell, Jackson Clements, and Skye Clements

Sisters: Virgie Watson of Rockwood, TN

Dot Stout of Rockwood, TN

And several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 16, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Evans Mortuary. Funeral services will follow on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary. Committal services and interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, Tennessee.
