Mr. Narvel McClendon Martin, age 81 of Harriman, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 19th, 2026. He was born on October 16th, 1944, in Harriman. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Narvel was also a US Army Vet who proudly served his country. He worked at K-25 in Oak Ridge and retired after 41 years of service. He was a member of the Harriman Junction Masonic Lodge #103 . Narvel was a lifetime member of the New Century United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher, and also sang in the choir and men's chorus. He enjoyed going to the flea market to find various things, gardening, and watching football at Harriman on Fridays and on tv throughout the weekends. When he wasn't with his loving family, you could usually find him enjoying breakfast with the morning crew in Harriman at Hardees.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Madison & Margie Lucille Martin; siblings: Gwendolyn Martin, Vincent Martin. He is survived by:
Wife of 55 years: Mary Martin
Daughters: Tamara Smith (Sean) & Shelice Johnson (Ken)
Grandchildren: Alana, Rese, and Christian
Siblings: Gene Martin (Cheryl), Cherie Carter (Greg), Jenice "Nease" Brown (Joe), Nell Jackson Brown, and Barbara "Cookie" Montgomery
Stepmother: Bernice Martin
and a host of other extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 25th, 2026, from 12:00-1:00 pm ET at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm ET with Rev. Gary Atwater officiating. Graveside and interment service will be held on Tuesday, July 28th, 2026, at 2:00 pm ET at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, TN, with military honors presented by the US Army Honor Guard.
