Mr. Terry William Chitwood

d. September 12, 2021

Mr. Terry William Chitwood, 67 passed away peacefully to be with his Lord on September 12, 2021 surrounded by his loving family in his home in Midtown after a long fight with cancer. Terry was born April 20, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois, but the family moved back to Tennessee shortly after he was born. He was a graduate of Roane County High School. We knew God had a sense of humor when he blessed Terry with twins at 40! His pride and love for his sons and grandkids was immeasurable. Terry grew up in Midtown and in his early teenage years he started working for his dad in the family-owned business: Midtown Paving Company. Terry’s ability to handle large trucks, bobcats, and anything that was demanded of him, he handled it with remarkable ability. After Midtown Paving closed, Terry started and working at UCOR in Oak Ridge and remained there until his retirement in 2019. However, Terry’s true passion was the outdoors in a fishing boat, hunting for whatever was in season and being with friends and family.

We will miss his wonderful sense of humor and how he always had a way of adding to a conversation to fill it with laughter and delightful stories of his own life. As was his father, who always had a good line to spark a laugh and bring smiles. A testimony of Terry’s life is his many lifelong friendships that he cherished. Specifically, Gary Hill, who was truly like a brother: Jerome Armes and Tim Adkisson- trout and bass fishing buddies, as well as his very close and special friend Debbie Martin McKinney. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and very close friends from church and work, whom he loves dearly, but too numerous to list. Terry will forever live in our hearts and minds, remembering our love for him, our laughter in his presence and his kindness toward all his family and friends. Terry was proceeded in death by his loving parents: Billy and Daisy Chitwood; sister: Diana (Joe) McKissick. He is survived by:

Twin Sons: Gary (Kelsey) Chitwood and Terry Chitwood

Grandchildren: Austin and Aubrey Chitwood

Stepsons: James (Jamie) Choate and John Choate

Sisters: Donna (Stan) Allbaugh and Debbie (Jim) Ledbetter

The family will receive friends Friday, September 17, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Harriman, Tennessee.
