Michael George Arsenault was born in the old mining town of Ishpeming, Michigan, on July 25, 1951, to second-generation immigrant parents from Canada and Italy. He was a math-wiz in school and through life, a rowdy 1960s teen, a truck driver with his brother Steve, an electrician by trade, a Harley Davidson rider and mechanic, a bass tournament fisherman, a hunter, a building contractor, a pinball wizard, and a fan of The Lord of the Rings, his favorite book. Mike, as he was known, married Polly Campbell in 1982 and adopted her two sons, eldest Christopher and his younger brother Sean, who soon welcomed their brother Douglas into the world in 1983. Mike and Polly were happily married until Polly's death in 2018. In 2019, Mike was diagnosed with metastatic Stage-4 prostate cancer and entered into a long treatment plan that supressed the cancer for more than five years. In 2020, Mike found a loving and caring life partner in Cindy Strader, whose generosity and kindess and love carried him through grief and sickness and into joy and contentment right up until his final moments. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
Mike is survived by his partner Cindy Strader and her son Casey, his eldest brother Tony (Ruth) Arsenault, his sons Chris (Amy) Campbell, Sean (Sharalynn) Campbell, Doug (Mary) Arsenault, and five grandchildren, Riane Freie, Autumn Campbell, Alexis Campbell, Calvin Arsenault, and Nora Arsenault.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Philip (Martha) Arsenault, as well as by his siblings Sandra (Bob) Kelly and Steve (Pam) Arsenault.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date and times will be announced here when arrangements are finalized. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. Michael George Arsenault.
