Mary Kate "Katie" Lay

Mary Kate "Katie" Lay, age 31 of Knoxville, formerly of Rockwood, gained her heavenly wings on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. She was born on May 9th, 1994. Katie was a ray of sunshine to everyone that knew her. She always lit up a room with her smile and her kind heart drew everyone to her. She was a 2012 graduate of Rockwood High School, and had worked as a server for many years around the area. Katie's most prized and cherished job was being a mother to Legacy Abigail Lay, her beautiful daughter. No matter what came her way, Katie always tried to do her best. She will always be remembered as that ray of sunshine and warmth to all that had the privilege to know her. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother: Mary Frances Stricklan Scribner; paternal grandfather: Richard Lay; and Legacy's father and love of her life, Steve Fine; cousin: Tiffany Lay-Raley. She is survived by:

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 pm ET at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm ET with Brother Brendan Kirkland providing the eulogy and message. Cremation arrangements have been made and a private interment will be held at a later date.
