Mrs. Mary Helen Martin Carter, age 86 of Harriman, went home to be with Jesus her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, August 7th, 2025, at the Roane Medical Center in Harriman, TN. She was born in Leona Mines, Virginia, in 1939. Mary was a faithful member of the Daysville Baptist Church. She earned her Ed.S and was a specialist in education and worked for 41 years as a teacher in the Roane County Schools System. In addition, she was a member of the TEA and Roane County Teachers Association.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Rex & Mertie Cotton Martin; brother: Kenneth Martin; and sister: Judith Ann Martin.

She is survived by:

Husband: Rev. Hascue Carter

Daughters: Mary Stephanie Carter, Helen Susanne Carter

Grandchildren: William Eric Webb, Taylor Wade Fisher

Great Grandchildren: Madison Kiley Webb, Samantha Peyton Webb, William Asa Webb, Milo Oliver Webb, Rylan Nash Fisher

Sister: Geraldine Smith (James)

Brothers: Paul Edward Martin (Linda), Rex Allen Martin (Jenny)

and a host of other extended family members and friends.

Friends and family will meet on Thursday, August 14, 2025 for a graveside service. The viewing will be at 1:00 pm and service at 2:00 pm ET at the Cotton Cemetery in the Helenwood Community of Scott County. Rev. Dwight Martin will officiate. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mrs. Mary Helen Martin Carter.
