Rockwood, Tennessee

Mr. Glory Lee Wright, age 86, a resident of Rockwood, Tennessee passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the Ben Atchley Tennessee State Veterans Home in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born October 3, 1937, in Rockwood, Tennessee. He was a Member and Deacon of the Sevier Street Sabbath Day Adventist Church in Harriman, Tennessee and was also a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans (DAV), both at the Harriman Post. Mr. Wright was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for two tours in the Vietnam War. He later joined and served until retirement with the Tennessee Army National Guard, retiring as Staff Sergeant. Glory Lee was a hardworking man and a hero, once risking his own life to save a child from off the railroad tracks, and once rescuing a family from a structure fire. Most of all, he loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas William Wright and Lillian Grace Wright; 2 infant children; grandchildren, Elizabeth Angelicque Bush and Marcus Terrell Johnson; brothers, Henry Thomas “Bud” Wright, Charles “PeeWee” Wright, and Harry “Tim” Wright; sisters, Ila Wright, Lila Wright, Lisola Parks, and Joann Sanders; Ex-Wife: Sang Sun ( Connie) Wright and special aunt, Anna Lee Donelson.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the Evans Mortuary. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Elder Ron Logan and Pastor Steven Womack officiating. Committal services and entombment will follow in the Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood, Tennessee with full military honors by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard and the Tennessee Army National Guard. Evans Mortuary of Rockwood, Tennessee is serving the family of Mr. Glory Lee Wright.
