Gerald Louis Swykert, age 88 of Kingston, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 2nd, 2026, at his home. He was born on April 26th, 1937, in Michigan. Gerald was devoted husband, loving father, and an amazing grandfather and great grandfather. His family was priority in his life and he loved to spend his time with them. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran. In his time of service, he was a part of the US Navy Frogmen, which was the predecessor of the US Navy Seals. He specialized with the dive team and special operations. Gerald worked as a heavy machine operator for over 62 years across multiple companies around the area.
In his free time, he loved to go camping and travel with his family. He was also an avid motorcycle rider and rode all the way into his 80's. Those who knew him, also knew how much he loved to have his diet Coke and peanut M&Ms too. His animals held a special place in his heart also. He was a member of the Lawnville Church of Christ in Kingston, TN.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Violetta Jane Swykert; parents: Louis Swykert & Veronica Waggner Swykert; sister: Rose Quesada, and brother: Clarence Swykert. He is survived by:
Children: Valerie Brown (Keith), Michelle Smalley (Phillip), Sheri Garner, and Mandy Stansberry
Grandchildren: Scott Brown, Jason Brown, Alexys Reneau, Sarah Walker, Mandi Smalley, Lacei Smalley, Morgan Stansberry, Mason Swykert, Hannah Brown, Savanna Smalley, Rebekah Brown, Shanley Wilson, and Adlynn Wilson

and a host of other extended family members and friends in the church and community.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 11th, 2026, from 1:00-3:00 pm ET at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood. Graveside and committal service will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, TN, with Bro. Roger Carter officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the US Navy Honor Guard and Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. Gerald Louis Swykert.
