George Roger Swing

Mr. George Roger Swing, age 79 of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 with his family at his side. George was born on December 1, 1944 into the Westel Community in Cumberland County Tennessee. George, along with his sisters, was orphaned at five years old and spent time living with his brother Pete Swing, uncle Hammet Swing and his grandfather William Swing. He became affectionately known as “Buster” and “Buck” to his family and became like a brother to his cousins Christine, Maxine and Illa. George grew to deeply love his grandfather William Swing and honored him throughout his life. He graduated from Cumberland County High School in April 1962 and then joined the Air Force in June 1962.

George served on active duty with the Air Force for 24 years, including two tours of duty in Viet Nam as well as serving in the Philippines, Iran, Spain, Langley AFB (VA), Travis AFB (CA), Duluth AFB (MN) and Lowry AFB (CO). While in the Air Force, George earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Maryland. 

George was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Vance Swing and Tommy Faye Abels Swing, brother Willard Vance “Pete” Swing, sisters, Loretta Cieminski, Bettye Payne and Cleta Kusmierek and daughter Cynthia Joann Swing.

Daughter: Kimberley Swing of Corpus Christi, Texas

Sons: William Swing of Alamogordo, New Mexico George Swing, Jr. of Parker, Colorado Joe Swing of Alamogordo, New Mexico Shulong Swing of Corpus Christi, Texas Michael Swing of Corpus Christi, Texas

Grandchildren: Casey Swing, Bridgette Swing, Kyle Swing, Tyler Swing, Ryley Swing, Sharon Swing (Cardin), Shannon Swing, Andrea Swing and Michael Swing

Great Grandchildren: Cameron Swing (Kyle) and Dukaleon Swing (Casey)

Graveside service with full military honors will be held Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Lingo Cemetery in Westel, Tennessee at 11AM.
