George E. Kemmerly, age 91, formerly of Rockwood, TN, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, in Alabaster, AL, where he had moved upon the death of his beloved daughter and care provider, Mary J. Pinner.
A “Buckeye Boy” through and through, he was born and raised in Ohio on January 27, 1935. His loving parents were the late Ira Howard and Attie Mae Star Kemmerly (formerly Kear). “Mister” George never met anyone he could not talk to, share a story with, or spare a dollar to help. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lorelei; his beloved daughter “Miss Mary”; and his sister Jane Stollmeyer. George lived a long, full, and good life, recognizing and thanking God daily for the good and comfort HE provided. He filled his life with stories, kindness, eight grandchildren he was very proud of, and ten beautiful great-grandchildren. He is survived by two sons (LTC, USA (Ret.) Ken Kemmerly and Brian Kemmerly, a former son-in-law, David Pinner, and an “adopted” son, Dale Cheatham.
The family prefers a small donation to your local Future Farmers of America or 4-H in lieu of flowers to honor George’s love for agriculture and the education of young people.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Graveside services and interment will follow on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood, Tennessee. Evans Mortuary of Rockwood, Tennessee is honored to serve the family of George E. Kemmerly.
