Dorcas Mabel Mitchell

Mrs. Dorcas Mabel Mitchell, age 90, of Harriman, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 7, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Millard Mitchell; her parents, Reverend David Burris and Cressie Burris; brother, David P. Burris; and sisters, Lena (Jewel) Duncan, Mary Sneed, Ruth Salmons, Rachel Land, and Naomi Butler.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Murray of Harriman, TN; her son and daughter-in-law, Darrell W. and Ginger Mitchell of Knoxville, TN; brothers, James Burris and Reverend John Burris; grandchildren, Desiree Murray, Audrey (Brian) Bibb, Thomas Mitchell, and Jonathan Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Jacksun Kennedy, Connor Bibb, Henry Bibb, and Emma Bibb; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Affectionately known as “Grandmother,” Dorcas lived a full and joyful life. She traveled extensively with her husband and family during his career in the U.S. Navy and formed lasting friendships wherever she went. Dorcas faithfully served in many Baptist churches over the years, dedicating herself to her faith and to helping others. She provided childcare for countless family members and friends, offering an open heart to all who were in need.

Dorcas will be remembered for her kindness, loyalty, honesty, and deep love for her family. Her faith and devotion to God were unwavering, and she is now rejoicing in His presence.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 9:45a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood, TN. Graveside services and interment will follow on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood, Tennessee.
