Delores June Mayton, 88, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away at her home on Saturday, November 15th, 2025.
Delores was born to Herschel Bryan McCutcheon and Juna Mignon (Milligan) McCutcheon, on May 9th, 1937, in Hollis, Oklahoma. Her family eventually landed in California in the suburbs of Los Angeles where she was raised. She became a military wife marrying Billy J. Causey, her first husband and father of their three daughters—Cynthia, Stephanie, and Brenda. She held down the fort at home and cared for and raised their three daughters pretty much on her own due to her husband’s many sea duty and other assignments. Delores and her family moved to Pensacola in 1969, where Delores has lived ever since.
In 1976, she married her second husband, the love of her life, Jake Mayton. They were married 29 years when he passed away. They were deeply devoted to one another during their lives together.
Delores was a cherished wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed working for the American Heart Association and the Leukemia Society making community contact phone calls. She had been a member of Brentwood Assembly of God and sang in the choir, and she had also been a member of Calvary Way Full Gospel Church. She was an Avon saleslady for a time and had so much fun with that! For many years, Delores also worked as an Election/Poll Deputy during regular and special elections held in Escambia County.
Delores was our North Star giving us guidance, support, and, yes, discipline when needed. Most importantly, she loved us through it all. Her smiles and laughter were always so full of joy. She always had hugs for us. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, traveling, sewing, watching baseball games, Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right, and she was a master at couponing and yard sales!
Delores was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jake B. Mayton, her parents Herschel and Juna McCutcheon; daughter, Stephanie Feis; grandson, Aaron Feis; her siblings, Thelma, Imogene; Norma; Martha, and Buddy. And we can’t forget her special dog and companion, “Happy”.
She is survived by her daughters Cynthia Lankford of Pensacola, FL, and Brenda (Tracy) Tilman of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren Michelle Perez (Antioch, TN), Christopher Carter (Pickens, SC); Lori Carter (Pensacola), Michael Connell (Leavenworth, KS), Raymond Feis (Florida), Johanna Feis (Florida); 15 great-grandchildren -- Lisa, Amanda, Buddy, Faisal, Steven, Kevin, Arielle, Brianna, Dakota, Cheyanne, Peyton, Dillon, Charlee, Alexander, and 6 great-great grandchildren Caiden, Jace, Caleb, Isabella, Tomas, and Karas; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens, 7433 Pine Forest Road, Pensacola, FL, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, beginning at 10AM and followed by services officiated by Pastor Dan Busey at 11AM.
Interment services will be in Rockwood, TN, at Roane Memorial Gardens, 1400 N. Gateway Ave., on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, at 11AM. Evans’ Mortuary, 805 N. Gateway Ave., Rockwood, TN, will be providing services prior to burial.
