Barbara Grace Tillson Bowman

Mrs. Barbara Grace Tillson Bowman, age 98 of Rockwood, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 31st, 2026, at her home. She was born on February 15th, 1928, in Augusta, Maine. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to so many she knew. She was a veteran and helped serve with the US Women's Army Corp where she served in the Pentagon as a communication specialist. 

She was a proud and active member of the Caney Ford Baptist Church in Roane county where she helped attend and served in various capacities over the last 69 years. She was also active within the community here in Rockwood and across Roane county. 

She is preceded in death by her parents: Arthur Dewey Tillson & Laura Leona Perry Tillson; siblings: Arthur Dewey Tillson Jr, Seldon Tillson, Charles Tillson, and Walter "Gus" Tillson; in-laws: Sanders L. Bowman & Lillian Harvey Bowman; son-in-law: Edward "Bo" Pemberton. She is survived by:

Husband of 70 years: Sanders L. "Sanny" Bowman

Sister: Shirley Tillson Cooper

Children: Sandra (Jack) Billings, Susan Pemberton, David (Suzanne) Bowman

Grandchildren: Ethan (Olivia) Billings, Laura Billings Reid, Aaron Billings, Heath Pemberton, Austin Pemberton, and Amanda Pemberton (Jim Spoth), Justin Coffey, Jordan (Brittany) Bowman, Jade Bowman, Annabelle Bowman, Alex Bowman, Andrew Bowman

and a multitude of great grandchildren:

along with a host of other extended family members and friends. 

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 3rd, 2026, from 1:00-2:30 pm ET at the Caney Ford Baptist Church in Harriman, TN. Funeral service will follow at 2:30 pm ET with Rev. Fran Irmiter and Rev. Mark McCoig officiating. Graveside and interment service will follow in the Bowman Family Cemetery in Rockwood, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to the Caney Ford Baptist Church .Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mrs. Barbara Grace Tillson Bowman.
