Listen to Obituary

Mrs. Barbara Barnes, age 81, a resident of Rockwood, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2026. She was born January 2, 1945, in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Barnes was a member of the Rockwood Church of Christ and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her cats.

Barbara was known for her warm hospitality, generous spirit, quick wit, and deep love for animals. She dedicated most of her time to caring for her family. Her connections with them were her most treasured possession.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Arlis. Arlis and Barbara were blissfully married and shared a beautiful life together, defined by a deep and sacrificial love for one another.

Barbara adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her eyes visibly sparkled and her smile lit up the room at the sight of them.

She leaves behind a profound legacy of nurturing care, resilience, and a strong work ethic—values she passed down to her children and grandchildren who had the distinct pleasure of knowing and loving her.

Her favorite parable was that of the lost sheep in found in the Gospels of Luke 15:3-7 and Matthew 18:12-14. She understood the feeling of God’s unconditional love and is now peacefully resting in her Savior’s arms.
