100 year Anniversary Roane Iron Company Rockwood Mine Disaster

The Rockwood community will gather on to remember and honor the following individuals who were tragically killed in the Roane Iron Company's Rockwood Mine (Rogers Section) Mining Disaster 100 years ago on October 4, 1926, as well as their families, the survivors, and those who assisted in the rescue and recovery efforts. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. (E.D.T.) at the Rockwood Homecoming Park at the corner of W. Rockwood Street and S. Front Street in Downtown Rockwood. The City of Rockwood particularly invites any family members and descendants of the miners to attend. This is a public event and everyone is welcome. This posting is courtesy of Evans Mortuary.
